Over dinner the three discussed possible plans for moving the entire operation to Bellflower and how to please Rana as soon as possible. They all agreed that Dr. Kaller was the best choice at this point to take his place. At least he was an excellent doctor. However, Lapin maintained a degree of concern, "I hope he can stand up to the pressure that we are all bound to receive."
"Don't worry," Jan said, "we will all help him just like we trained Rana. I like him."
"Well, let's start doing it first thing in the morning."
"Okay, fearless leader. But can it wait until at least 8:30 in the morning? I have to take my daughter to the doctor," Jan said smiling.
"I can wait," Lapin said as he paid the bill for dinner. When he got home that evening he read the state's accusation and became livid at the total lack of understanding and stupidity that the state investigators showed when they drafted the report. Examples of it were the siding of the hospital for not controlling the performance of a Pap smear before doing a D & C, because a D & C was more accurate. This was an error that a medical student would not make. There was a total lack of anatomical knowledge shown in their describing one of his cases who had a diastasis recti as being a rectal prolapse instead of a bulging stomach. What made him laugh was the criticism that it was inappropriate for him to dictate a discharge summary on a patient he operated on.
